Craigslist is classified advertisement website that has been helping people find jobs, housing, sale items, services, community, gigs and forums.
I redesign craigslist website and mobile application to give it a minimalistic modern design. I wanted to improve the usability by organizing and presenting the categories better.
The goal is to improve the usability by making changes that will result in a more positive overall user experience. The new website and mobile app layout will give craigslist a more pleasant look.
The colours use in the website and mobile app match the craigslist logo colour which is purple. I have added white and grey to keep it visually clean and professional.
New website design direction is more minimalistic. The top navigation bar includes a quick access to home, about, event and FAQ tabs. Below a search bar was added in the centre to make it easier for the user to search for items. Images were added to the new design to make it visually easy to navigate.
The apartments tab contains a map with some options to customize the search. The map will indicate with symbols where the available apartments are located. Below the map we can see the different available options; these options have the main info on it (price, location) and a photo for reference.
I wanted to modernize the app. To do so, I had to change the complete look of the app by keeping the main content and making it easy to navigate. I kept the same logo from the website to maintain consistency. Currently the logo from the mobile app vs the current website is significant different in colour and thickness.
The challenge while creating the mobile app was to maintain the minimalistic and clean look in a smaller space. I maintained the same information from the website and place it in more organized way giving the website a clean user friendly look (not too crowded or overwhelming).
For the bus stop ad, I focus on the legibility and content. It was important for me that the ad can be visible and legible from far away. A person walking will be able to see and read the ad while approaching.
